Early Churches & Cemeteries

Tools, livestock, clothing, and furnishings were hauled to the new homesteads on Yellow Creek. Along with such worldly possesions, the early inhabitants brought their religious faith. The very first church services were held in the homes and barns of congregation members, until the first places of worship were erected. Many of the original settlers in the area rest in peace near the lands they cherished. Visits to these early established graveyards can be a quite history lesson, an invalueable resource for geneologists, and take you to some of the most remote and beautiful parts of these lovely townships. Often times, the foundation stones of a generations old church can be found, and an occasion, these houses of worship are used to this day.
I plan to add individual pages as time permits, especially those marked ***.
